Greetings Colleagues,
The second half of the spring semester is filled to the brim with events and activities to engage and celebrate our students. Our first Accepted Student Day was a success this weekend. Thank you to everyone who gave up their Saturday to welcome and interact with our new students and their families.
Overall Enrollment:
We updated the university enrollment projections recently, which includes an increased target of 1,250 first year students and 725 transfer students for fall 2025. The projected university headcount for fall 2025 is 7,751, an increase from 7,482 in fall 2024, 6,931 in 2023, and 6,424 in Fall 2022.
SUNY Brockport continues to be in a position of strength related to our enrollment. In the last few SUNY reports, we are in the lead among the SUNY comprehensive universities with the largest number of first year and transfer deposits for fall 2025.
-
First-year deposits: 700 (vs 594 in 2024, and 584 in 2023)
- Transfer deposits: 235 (vs 217 in 2024, and 165 in 2023)
- Dual credit programs are growing in popularity across the country because they offer college credit courses taught in high school. We started a dual credit program last year, a growing pipeline program with 262 students enrolled, up from 124 last year. We currently partner with Holley, Spencerport, Batavia, Brockport, and Hamilton school districts. Undergraduate Admissions is working with current 3-1-3 partners, and others, to expand this program over time.
- We continue to have regular meetings with our partners at MCC, GCC & FLCC, as our primary transfer feeder institutions. In addition to increased communication and joint marketing, we have bolstered our transfer student events on their campuses which are proving to generate interest and excitement about coming to Brockport.
- Summer graduate applications/admits/deposits are on par with the past few years for the same week in time. Fall graduate applications/admits/deposits are all running well ahead of the past five falls for the same week in time.
Retention:
Fall to spring retention of our first-year students has increased (87.4% compared to 82.4% last year), a high since fall 2017. The fall to spring retention of fall 2024 Emerging Scholars cohort is 81.1%, an increase from 75.3% of the fall 2023 cohort. We are looking forward to completing Georgia State University’s National Institute of Student Success Diagnostic and Playbook this spring, which can help us learn additional ways that we can elevate our student persistence efforts.
The investment in the institution’s scholarship program supports students being able to afford going to Brockport, and it supports students staying at the university through graduation. Fall 2024 first time student scholarship recipients retained to the spring semester at a rate of 92.6% compared to 80.4% of non-recipients.
Our Strategic Enrollment Management success relies on our team approach to growing and sustaining enrollment of all student types and levels. Please don’t hesitate to share ideas, feedback or suggestions related to our enrollment efforts. Thank you for all that you do to support our current students, and for your engagement with prospective students as they consider SUNY Brockport.
