Happy Administrative Professionals’ Day to our dedicated staff who support the smooth operation of our divisional offices. Growing up, my mom served in an administrative assistant role at an elementary school, contributing to my deep and personal appreciation for the work of all our administrative professionals. You are critical to our division’s success, and I thank you for the important work that you do!
Physical Space & Facilities Updates: There are a few upcoming physical space improvements planned for our division, including new student lounge furniture for the Veterans Lounge and furniture for an EOP student space. Financial Aid and Registration and Records are getting closer to starting a carpet and counter replacement project, and you are probably aware that Tuttle is scheduled for a series of major renovations over the next several years. Our campus continues to be a beautiful and welcoming space for our staff, faculty, and students.

Professional Development Session: On May 27th at 10am, I encourage you to join the EM Directors and I for the “Leading in Wellness” session facilitated by Coordinated Care Services. This unique training will focus on trauma informed practices, positive psychology, fostering connection in the workplace, stress management, etc. You were sent a calendar invite with more details.

Advising & Student Support Programs:

A&SSP staff continue to assist students with scheduling, changing majors, and locating advisors. In addition, we are working with students in academic recovery to finish their semester strong and return in the fall. We are also looking forward to hiring a new academic advisor and beginning the freshman registration process on May 1.
Athletics:

The Brockport athletic department raised a record $112,000 from 1,502 donors (also a record) during the university’s annual Day of Giving campaign. Over the course of the last four years, athletics raised an impressive $339,000.

The nationally ranked No.12 Brockport Baseball team is currently 26-3-1 overall and is in the driver’s seat to host the Empire 8 Conference Championships the second weekend in May. The Golden Eagles are also in an excellent position to earn a bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Brockport Women’s Lacrosse has clinched a post season bid for the 15th straight season and will look to lock up a home playoff game this week. Brockport Men’s Lacrosse looks to clinch its spot in postseason play this week as well.

Brockport Women’s Basketball Head Coach Corinne Jones guided the Golden Eagles to the NCAA Tournament and was named the USBWA Rochester Area Women’s Coach of the Year, the D3hoops.com Region 3 Coach of the Year, and she led the Empire 8 Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. She was also one of just 12 finalists for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Coach of the Year honor.

The Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year, led by Brockport’s Joe Clarke, guided the Golden Eagles to a 14-2 record in conference play this past season. Brockport won the E8 regular season title and hosting rights for the conference tournament. Clarke was also named the Rochester Area Coach of the Year.

Brockport gymnastics celebrated five regular season All-Americans and Lili Kay earned a share of the National Championship on the beam. The Golden Eagles hosted and won their fifth straight NCGA East Regional on campus and finished sixth at nationals. Assistant Athletic Director Kathryn Stiner and Associate Athletic Director Gil Burgmaster were honored as the 2025 NCGA East Region Administrators of the Year following the regional meet.

Senior track star Jon Zavala missed out on a national championship in the men’s mile by less than a second, placing 2nd at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Nazareth. For his efforts, Zavala earned All-American honors and was also named the USTFCCCA NCAA DIII Niagara Region Men’s Track Athlete of the Year. Coach John Davis was named the USTFCCCA NCAA DIII Niagara Region Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year.

Head Wrestling Coach Troy Seymour was named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year in his first season with the Golden Eagles.
Educational Opportunity Program:

18 students were inducted into the Chi Alpha Epsilon – Epsilon Rho Chapter honor society last week, which requires a 3.0 GPA for two consecutive semesters.

Our EOP program was selected as one of four campuses to offer an EOP Undergraduate Research Program this summer.

Dr. Lisa M. Thompson attended the biennial Tri-State Consortium held in Albany, which includes higher ed institutions in NY, NJ and PA and offers a chance for individuals within opportunity programs to network, celebrate, and share best practices.
Financial Aid:

The Financial Aid Office met with over 100 families individually during the Accepted Student Days. Families were very pleased and impressed that they were able to meet with the FAO as other schools do not tend to offer this opportunity at similar events.
New Student & Transition Programs:

First year seminar (GEP 120/125) planning and updates are underway.

Orientation planning and peer mentor program updates are ongoing, along with many end of semester student programs and activities.
Registration & Records:

The document imaging project that began in 2019 is expected to be completed in summer 2025. To date, approximately 1.5 million documents have been digitized.

Priority registration for Fall 2025 was a success, with 416 entries submitted and reviewed.
