Brockport Information Technology Services (BITS) is excited to have people back on campus for the start of the semester! Below is some information that will be helpful as we launch into Fall 2025!
BITS Service Desk Support
Brockport users can access our knowledge base articles 24x7 through the BITS Service Desk Portal.
Available during most University business hours at the Service Desk, located on the ground floor of the Drake Memorial Library. Specific phone and walk-in support hours are posted on the BITS Service Desk Portal.
Make Sure to Allocate Time When Returning to Campus for Computer Updates:
When returning to campus, please make sure to allocate time for computer updates or issues upon your return. Some computers that have not been used during the summer may need an hour or more of updates and may need to restart multiple times during the process.
Wi-Fi Network Names and Which One to Use!
Over the summer, BITS continued updating the campus Wi-Fi networks to improve performance. Check out the chart below from the Daily Eagle Article to make sure you are connecting to the correct network.
Zoom License Instructions
If you are teaching and do not already have a Zoom license, but would like to use Zoom to teach, please place a Zoom Request in the service portal. If you had a Zoom license last year, you do not need to submit a new request.
Important Information Needed: Will you be using Minitab to teach this Fall?
Minitab licensing requires BITS to assign licenses to users individually. If you will be using Minitab to teach in any of your courses for the Fall 2025 semester, please fill out a Software Request ticket if you have not already done so. BITS will need to know which courses/sections so the students can be licensed properly.
Dell Offers Educational Discounts for Students and Employees at Brockport:
Did you know that you are able to take advantage of Dell’s Educational discount as a Student or Employee at Brockport? To see the current sales available, check out www.dell.com/Brockport for more information.
Teams Calling Phone Project
We’re continuing our transition from Cisco to Teams Calling, with another small group migrated to help refine our process. A full schedule for the campus rollout—beginning this fall and continuing into the winter session—will be announced in an upcoming Daily Eagle article. Users will also receive email reminders ahead of their scheduled cutover.
Phone Greetings, Hours, and Menus
Don’t forget to make sure your campus phone greeting for voicemail is current! Instructions can be found in the Voicemail - Record Your Greeting Article.
If your office uses a queue or menu system, don’t forget to submit your semester greetings and hours requests at least 3 days before the change is needed. Requests for call menu changes can be submitted through a Call Menu (Queue) Ticket form in the IT Service Desk Portal.
If your voicemail box is getting full you can use these instructions to delete messages before the semester starts: How to delete voicemail messages

Microsoft Office (M365):
Students who need access to Microsoft Office applications on their personal devices can install the Office desktop applications from Office.com with their @Brockport.edu email! Check out the How to Install Office 365 Applications article for more information.
