SUNY Brockport Presidential Search

Dear Campus Community,

We continue to make progress toward finalizing our Presidential Search Committee. Today’s update, which will build upon what was shared at this week’s Brockport University Senate meeting, will focus on the process that will be utilized to select the six full-time teaching faculty members and the professional staff member that will sit on the committee.

The six full-time teaching faculty members of the Search Committee will be allocated as follows:

• Two from the College of Arts and Sciences
• Two from the College of Education and Health
• One from the School of Nursing
• One from the School of Business and Management

How these six members are selected will be determined, in consultation with the respective dean, through an election process administered by the University Senate. These elections should be completed no later than September 25.

With respect to the search committee member from the professional staff, as per best practices and in an effort to ensure fairness and equity, SUNY has recommended that this individual be selected through an election process. That process will begin with nominations (including self-nominations) being submitted to Julie Pruss, the campus liaison to the search committee, by e-mail. The nomination process will close on September 15. A yet to be determined impartial party, not involved in the presidential search, will then formalize and oversee the election to maintain transparency and impartiality. This process should be completed no later than September 25.

For the other designated members of the search committee, potential members have been, and continue to be, nominated from their respective groups, with final appointments determined by me.

The selection process for a consultant to assist in the search has been started by SUNY, with the expectation that a consultant will be selected by mid-October and will begin the process of identifying suitable candidates for the search committee to evaluate.
