Enrollment Management Team,
The Enrollment Management Random Acts of Kindness initiative continues to be popular among students. Thomas Chew and I “caught” students studying across campus and handed out SUNY Brockport t-shirts to recognize their commitment to their academics. Dr. Kimberley Willis, Dr. Erick Hart, and I offered golf cart rides and candy recently, too. I am always pleasantly surprised by how excited students are to hop on the golf cart for a ride to class, the fitness center, or their residence hall. Soon the golf cart will be put away for the winter, but we will be out and about spreading kindness in other ways as we approach the cooler months.
I know many of our Enrollment Management staff offer thoughtful gestures for our students regularly, contributing to our efforts to create a welcoming, supportive, and kind campus culture. Thank you for treating our students like family at their home away from home at SUNY Brockport.
Departmental Updates
Advising & Student Support Programs

Advisement Training started with our revamped training materials and upcoming meetings with CELT and other new faculty in the coming weeks.
- Staff are reviewing and providing outreach to all students with <2.25 at midterm, connecting them with resources to assist with their success.
- 10 Undeclared Program Workshops were completed as of October 15th, focused on supporting undeclared students as they prepare for Spring 2026 registration. Additional support was provided through personalized Slate emails and one-on-one meetings.

HealthConnect: A new advising support program was developed that will support and empower students who were not accepted into the nursing program. The program will provide practical guidance, academic strategies, and resources to reapply or explore alternative paths. In the future, we see this support program expanding to engage other healthcare related majors.
Educational Opportunity Program

223 EOP students are enrolled this fall.
- EOP is in the process of finalizing an EOP Retention & Persistence Plan, focused on improving student success outcomes.
- A new EOP Summer Academy Planning Committee was launched, bringing together key campus stakeholders to plan the Summer 2026 EOP Academy.
- In case you were wondering how the semesterly EOP Kickball Tournament went…the Rugby team reclaimed the Golden Kickball. My kids and I had fun playing, but our team was unfortunately eliminated early in the competition.
Financial Aid

The FAFSA application is available! The Financial Aid staff are implementing new FAFSA Completion Stations at upcoming recruitment events to assist prospective students with FAFSA Completion.
Intercollegiate Athletics

On October 5th, several Brockport athletic programs joined the campus-wide walk to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, particularly within the student-athlete community.

Fall Program Highlight: Women’s Soccer Dominates Empire 8 Play - Brockport Women’s Soccer remains unbeaten with a 10-0-3 overall record, having allowed just two goals in 13 games. The Golden Eagles currently sit atop the Empire 8 Conference standings.
- Upcoming Community Events
- Sunday, October 26th: SAAC Annual Leaf Raking & Canned Food Drive. Brockport Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will team up to support local residents through volunteer leaf raking and canned food donations.
- Friday, November 21st: Men’s Hockey Teddy Bear Toss Game. Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal and toss it onto the ice after Brockport’s first goal! Donations will benefit local charities during the holiday season.

Undergraduate Admissions

We hosted SUNY’s Rochester Area Operation Inform Program with over 200 high school counselors in attendance. It was SUNY’s largest attendance to date.
- SUNY’s Free Application Program runs from October 20th through November 3rd. We are off to a good start with this initiative and the direct admission program.
- Upcoming Fall Open Houses on October 18th and November 15th
- EOP Weeks will be held in January this year.

As we start the second half of the semester, I hope you are finding time to enjoy all the fall activities that our area has to offer. Our family went on a Haunted Hayride this weekend, and we have been pumpkin picking, sampling fall donuts from local farms, apple picking, and of course, attending lots of fall sports events.
