SUNY Brockport Presidential Search

Friday, December 12, 2025

Dear Campus Community:

To those of you who have completed the Community Feedback Survey, thank you. For those who have not and wish to do so, you have until the end of day TODAY.

With the assistance of WittKieffer, the Search Committee has prepared a Presidential Profile which describes the Brockport opportunity and solicits candidate applications. The profile will be posted on the WittKieffer website early next week.

Thus begins the process of advertising the terrific opportunity to become Brockport’s eighth president. The process will play out over the winter and into the spring. At the strong recommendation of SUNY, the Search Committee has determined to utilize a representational model for the search. In this model, expanded groups representing all university constituencies will meet with the Search Committee’s selected semifinalists during on-campus interviews. To protect the confidentiality of the invited candidates, these groups will sign non-disclosure agreements and provide their feedback to the Search Committee following the candidate visits, ensuring that their input and that of the constituents they represent is heard.

SUNY successfully has adopted the representational model for searches in order to improve the strength its applicant pools. The model has the benefit of significant and substantial campus input while mitigating the candidates’ risk of exposure. Only one of them will be our next president; the others likely will remain at their current institutions. Public disclosure of their interest in Brockport would impact their ability to effectively serve in their current positions, perhaps even putting them at risk. Given this, otherwise attractive candidates might not apply for fear of public disclosure.

The Search Committee believes that this will allow us to attract outstanding candidates while maintaining a process that is inclusive, transparent and reflective of the broad cross-section of our constituencies.

Enjoy the semester break, and happy and safe holidays to all.
