Staying warm? We’re having a true WNY winter in 2025-26. Enjoy it, if you like the snow, ice, and cold, and stay safe!
The spring semester is off and running, and it’s going to be a busy one. Here are some updates and news to share:
- Igniting Excellence: The Campaign for Brockport continues to chug along very well. We are currently at $33.3 million as of earlier this week.
- The previously scheduled President’s Donor Recognition Dinner (PDRD) in April has been cancelled this year and will be held as part of a major dinner on June 18 that will combine the 1.) PDRD with 2.) a closing Campaign celebration, 3.) the reveal of the first 20 names in our “Icons & Legends” series (more to come on that, soon), and 4.) President Macpherson’s retirement.
- Dan Lynd has started his new role as Assistant Director of Annual Giving. During the transition phase as we find his successor, Dan will still work with Kaci Chiappone on campus events, including Commencement. New roles will be fully entrenched later in the semester.
- With Hillary Brintle’s departure as Scholarship Coordinator, a big thank you to Garrett Roe for picking up the slack for this scholarship cycle while we search for Hillary’s replacement. That search is expected to conclude fairly soon.
- We have hired Franca Graney, who was a finalist from our last graphic designer search, to fill our graphic design position after the loss of Brian Robbins in December. Franca comes to us from Agency 29, a Rochester-based creative agency that serves food, beverage, and agricultural companies, where she was a junior creative director. She is on track to start with us on Feb. 12.
- The search is underway to find our next director of Marketing, as Debbie Jacob plans to retire this spring. Debbie has agreed to overlap a bit with her successor to ensure a smooth transition. She plans to transition to part-time work when her successor comes on board (hopefully in early April) before officially retiring in mid-May.
- We have a series of alumni “meet and greet” events in the coming weeks in Sarasota, New York City, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
- The Governor has released her budget proposal for 2026-27 so Erica Linden and President Macpherson will begin lobbying efforts on behalf of the University next month.
- It’s nice when we are able to invest in the development of our team members. There are several such opportunities going on in the next few weeks:
- the Plus Delta program concludes on Feb. 9 for our gift officers;
- John Follaco heads to Havard for an emergency management session that same week;
- Adam Standish and Adam Cipolla are off to a CASE conference with Deans Jana Craft (SOBAM) and Kathy Peterson (Nursing), also that week;
- Betsy Standish and Amanda Hayes are off to a CASE Conference a week later; and
- Dan Lynd just returned from a CASE conference on annual giving
