Dear Golden Eagles,
The month of April has certainly brought rain showers. I hope this means we’ll have beautiful May flowers and much warmer weather. I have some updates, I’d like to share with you regarding the EDI Strategic Plan, the Campus Climate Survey, the Diversity Conference, and Restorative Practices.
EDI Strategic Plan
The Implementation Team has been hard at work collecting data to assess the progress made towards achieving the plan’s three goals. The data collection process will be completed by the end of the semester. The Team will then review the data and draft a set of recommendations for the President’s Cabinet to move the plan forward.
Campus Climate Survey
I am wrapping up the presentations about the survey results with all shared governance bodies, students, faculty, and staff. A final virtual presentation will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:30 am. Please click this link to register:

In the meantime, the campus climate survey committee will draft a final report, with a set of recommendations for the President’s Cabinet. These recommendations will be used as a guide in our continuing efforts to improve a sense of belonging at the university.
A report for both the EDI Strategic Plan and the Campus Climate Survey will be available in the fall semester.
Diversity Conference and Call for Proposals:
The Diversity Conference theme is Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Current Landscape. The Diversity Conference seeks to promote open-mindedness, celebrate diversity, and promote awareness of divergent views on our college campus and within our communities. The conference also serves as a forum in which to establish or enhance self-awareness in relation to community building endeavors.
Using an equity, diversity and inclusion framework, this year’s conference will expand on current efforts to Build a Better Brockport. This year’s Diversity Conference explores how equity, diversity, and inclusion take shape in the present moment, as these efforts face increased challenge and opposition.
The deadline to submit a proposal is Friday, April 24, 2026. Please click this link to submit your proposal:
CALL FOR PROPOSALS: 24th Annual Diversity Conference
Restorative Practices:
The office of equity, diversity, and inclusion is extending our contract with the Center for Dispute Settlement until December 2026. Restorative practices have been a valuable tool in helping members of the Brockport community, resolve conflict and help build community. Extending the contract with the CDS will allow us to further incorporate this framework into the university in a sustainable way. Our continued partnership will also provide additional support and training for the restorative champions.
I am also excited to share; OEDI will be offering another Tier 1 training for faculty and staff interested in becoming a restorative champion. Email us: Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion: OEDI@brockport.edu
SAVE THE DATE:
Restorative Champions Tier 1 Training;
May 27-29, 2026,

Additional information will follow.
Wishing everyone a very happy April!
