Dear Colleagues,

The week began with Scholars Sleepover. On Sunday along with leaders in enrollment management and academic affairs, I met the parents of our scholars and talked with them about the transition their students will soon be making.

This was another busy week of travel, as Mike Andriatch and I visited Washington DC to attend a major DC alumni event. The attendance was great, and included Robert Powell who is heading up our Washington Internship Program, along with current and former participants of the program. We had great conversations with alumni from the 1970s through to the 2020s. We also met with other donors and learned the art of flexibility when our planned flight back turned into a rental car experience instead!

Along with presidents and athletic directors for the Empire 8 Athletic Conference—which is the conference we officially move to in the summer—I met virtually with Charlie Baker, the NCAA President. The topics of discussion were wide ranging, including the Name Image and Likeness (NIL) rules and sports betting, which are having an impact on college athletics.

The shared Governance Committee met today, our first meeting after the re-ratification of our principles of shared governance document. We focused on our website updates and on other ways to communicate about the value of our collective focus. We also had our monthly UUP labor management meeting which was held virtually, discussing topics of mutual interest. We talked specifically about the challenges and importance of good communication. I am grateful for the partnership with our unions and other bodies on campus.

Thank you for your commitment to Brockport.
