The following are the terms and conditions for scheduling and taking tests/quizzes/exams with SAS:
- I understand that I must schedule my test for the test time that all students are taking the test unless there is a direct-class conflict.
- I understand that it is my responsibility to refer to my syllabi and collaborate with my professors to obtain professor approved dates/times for accommodated test-taking and it is my responsibility to schedule accommodated tests with SAS.
- I understand that it is my responsibility to communicate any professor approved testing changes (dates, times, etc.) or concerns with SAS in as soon as possible. I understand that making changes to test time slots may result in a loss of the opportunity to test with SAS due to scheduling, processing, and spacing availability.
- If my class syllabus has set test dates listed, I will pre-register all my tests in advance with SAS.
- If my syllabus does not have set test dates, I will collaborate with my professor to schedule accommodated tests with SAS at least 72 Hours in advance of the date of the test and greater than one week in advance of Final Exams Week.
- When testing with SAS, I understand that I must schedule my tests at least 72 Business Hours in advance of the date of the test and greater than one week in advance of Final Exams Week to reserve a spot and to allow enough time for SAS and my professor to coordinate the acquisition of my test and all required related materials.
- I understand that SAS must fulfill accommodated testing requests on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure equity and access. If SAS cannot fulfill my request due to a late request, it will become my responsibility to make individual testing arrangements with my instructor, if my instructor allows.
- I understand that I may choose to remain in class instead of taking my test with SAS. I understand that if I choose to test in the classroom, I am waiving my use of accommodations for that assessment.
- I understand that if I am requested to return my completed test to the professor or the academic department, it must be returned upon leaving SAS with no delay. If I am unable to do so, I will inform the SAS Staff.
- I understand that my punctuality is essential, whether testing with an instructor directly or testing with SAS. I understand that arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in being considered a “no show” due to test center availability and the professor’s determination of exam integrity. If I miss my exam, and if a second attempt is permitted by the professor, I will immediately communicate this opportunity to SAS in hopes that my second attempt to test with SAS can be facilitated.
- I understand that SAS does not have the authority to approve any special requests to alter the start time/date of my tests because professor permission is required.
- I understand that my allotted test time, which includes my approved time extension, begins when the professor/SAS starts the test, not when I arrive. I understand that arriving late for an test may shorten my overall test time.
- If I am running late, I will contact my professor/SAS immediately. I understand that SAS reserves the right to use electronic hardware/software/camera systems to monitor exams and maintain Test Center security.
- I understand that I cannot leave or return to the testing area without permission from a proctor.
- To obtain permission when the proctor is monitoring via security cameras, I will raise my hand, or use an agreed upon signal to notify SAS.
- I understand that I should use the bathroom and drink beverages/eat snacks prior to the start of my test because food/beverages are not allowed in the test rooms.
- I understand that if I leave the test room without permission, I have invalidated the security of my test so my test. My instructor will be notified of the incident.
- I understand that, due to test security, I am required to have an escort to the restroom while testing.
- I will bring all needed materials to take my test; this includes pens, pencils, calculators, charts, protractors, engineers’ scales, noise-cancelling headphones, regular headphones (if applicable), etc. Headphones must be low-tech, and not “smart” devices due to Test Center security.
- I understand that all personal belongings, including items such as cell phones, smart watches, and any other non-medical electronic “smart” devices, must be left in the designated storage area for test security reasons. All smart devices must be turned OFF to prevent audible vibration buzzing and to prevent distracting other students who are taking accommodated tests.
- I understand that the deadlines and process for scheduling an accommodated final exam with SAS is a different process due to the college-wide final exam schedule (which is typically block scheduling of 8 am and 12 pm). I understand that SAS must comply with the block scheduling for final exams to attempt to facilitate a distraction-reduced environment for all accommodated test-takers.
- I understand that it is my responsibility to schedule all final exams, as soon as possible, using the “accommodated final exam directions” provided to me by SAS.
- I understand that I must abide by the College’s “Student Code of Conduct” in my relationship with SAS.
- I understand that it is the responsibility of the SAS testing proctor to enforce campus policy in regard to testing and academic integrity.
- I understand that Section IIA of the “Policy on Student Academic Dishonesty” states: The course instructor, any student, or any College employee who has personally witnessed or has knowledge of an act of academic dishonesty can bring a charge of academic dishonesty against a student. The full policy is available for my review online on the “Student Policies” page under “Academic Policies”.
- I understand that this agreement does not explicitly cover every aspect of the processes used by SAS to facilitate the accommodated testing program.
- I understand that timely, proactive communication with SAS is the key to facilitating my best chance at utilizing testing services with SAS.
If a student is caught with an item they are not allowed to have, suspected of cheating, or disregarding testing center policies, a SAS staff member will confiscate the item (if applicable), and the student will be allowed to continue the test. However, the information about the incident, time, and the description of the item will be shared with the professor. The student may be subject to disciplinary action. See Student Code of Conduct and Policy on Student Academic Dishonesty.
