Week 47: May 19, 2023

More kudos!!

  • With the academic year now over, some additional kudos to the team:
    • For those who haven’t seen it, the post-Commencement video that Zach and Sophia put together is another award-winning production. Awesome work! Here’s the link: Post-Commencement Video
    • Great job led by the Alumni Engagement team – Betsy and Kelsey! – on the series of Senior Week and Make Your Mark activities heading into last Friday’s Commencement ceremonies. Some traditions were continued, and many new ones begun, and the students really enjoyed their final days on campus. Thanks for putting everything together and already working on ways to do even more in 2024!
    • Last night’s Recognition Dinner was a smashing success with about 25 current and former faculty and staff being honored with retiree recognition, campus awards, and SUNY Chancellor’s Awards. Kaci and Dan did a beautiful job setting the tone and theme and getting all of the details in order, and John F.’s script was just right. Great night!!
    • Finally, another THANK YOU to all who helped make last Friday’s Commencement a memorable day for our graduates. I continue to hear from people across campus about how well everything went. Kudos to everyone, because everyone had some role.
  • A follow-up to the diploma cover situation: Dan and I met with the local Jostens rep yesterday to share our displeasure with the situation that resulted in our covers not arriving in time for last Friday’s ceremonies. After our discussion, Jostens has agreed to pay for the mailing of the covers to all of our graduates.

As for other news and notes …

  • It is annual report, evaluations, and performance program season, so please start working toward completing yours with your supervisor. The evaluations and performance programs should be to HR by July 1 (or VERY soon after), and our annual reports will need to be completed by July 15. More to come on that from a Divisional level.

Upcoming events to note:

  • The annual REOC Commencement is Tuesday, May 23, at the Eastman Theater starting at 7 pm. If you are interested in attending let me know and I’ll connect you with Roosevelt’s team.
  • For those who signed up, the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is on Thursday, May 25. We have another great crowd of campus colleagues participating.
  • Our Divisional day at a Rochester Red Wings game is Wednesday, May 31. First pitch is at 11:05 am.
  • Because of the SUNYCUAD Conference and some other conflicts, we are going to cancel the June 7 retreat/team day activities. We will do some type of retreat activity later in the summer.

Have a great weekend!
