Happy New Year everyone! I hope all had a chance to relax, enjoy some down time with family and friends, rest, rejuvenate, watch some movies or football games …Whatever you had a chance to do during the break, I hope you enjoyed it and had a nice time saying goodbye to 2023.
We are on to a big year, on many fronts.
- This is a Leap Year! Here’s a fun fact: Of the 31 current members of the A&C Team, 10 of you were not part of this great Division the last time we had a leap Year (2020)!
- This also is a Summer Olympics Year. The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad (that’s 33rd for those of you who don’t use the Roman alphabet very often) will be held in Paris from July 26 to Aug. 11. More than 10,000 athletes are expected to compete.
- It’s a Presidential Election Year … make sure you get out to vote on November 5.
- And this little thing called a Solar Eclipse also will be in the news in 2024. Keep Monday, April 8, open. You won’t want to miss it.
News and Notes …
- On Friday, Jan. 19, the ice hockey team plays Geneseo at 7 pm. That will be Advancement & Communications Night at the 58 Main BBQ Pit within the Wegmans Ice Arena. The Pit holds about 20-25 people, so please let Adam know if you and your family would like to come. A great menu of 58 Main classics will be served. Hope to see you there!

- For those who have not heard, BASC Executive Director Dana Weiss has announced her retirement, effective at the end of January. Dana and BASC have been great partners through the years, and we wish her well in retirement.
- Speaking of fundraising progress … it was a very good year-end for the Foundation. Kudos to all for the great work in bringing in gifts before Dec. 31.

- The Brockport Foundation will hold a virtual meeting on January 19th. This is our mid-year “update” meeting, and we will share news on Comprehensive Campaign progress to date.
- The Campus Leadership Summit for all Directors and other guests is Monday, Jan, 22 starting at 9 am in the NY Room of Cooper Hall.
