Brockport Auxiliary Service Corporation (BASC)
For those who have not yet heard, BASC Executive Director Dana Weiss has announced her retirement. Dana has led BASC for more than 11 years and through many transitions, and will be greatly missed. We wish her well in her upcoming retirement!
Brockport Information Technology Services (BITS)
It was announced last week with great sadness, the passing of Richard (Dickie) Morrison, a beloved member of our BITS staff in Edwards Hall. Dickie was a Desktop Support Specialist and had worked at SUNY Brockport for over 32 years. Dickie understood all the quirky systems in I.T. and fixed everyone’s printer issues, always with a fun quip or tidbit to share. He was a foundational member of the I.T. team and, over the years, had been a key part of significant changes to the SUNY Brockport technology footprint. In addition, he knew the offices with the best snacks and so, rumor has it, never needed to bring his lunch. Dickie was always willing to help others at SUNY Brockport or even outside of his work here, and that legacy will continue on with his indelible touch on us all. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to the Morrison family and friends during this difficult time.

Finance & Management’s Office of Student Accounts & Accounting (F&M/OSAA)
Student Accounts and Accounting staff enjoyed our annual Winter Retreat on Thursday, 12/21/23. Sessions were designed to enhance and support service-oriented concepts, including the powers of observation, inclusivity and kindness. We also enjoyed several team-building activities, such as Around the World Trivia and craft projects! Staff will utilize the new ideas and skills garnered from the day to enhance the service we offer students, families and colleagues.
To ensure compliance with the Tax Relief Act of 1997 (a.k.a., Hope Tax Credit and/or American Opportunity Credit), OSAA has generated a data file representing Form 1098-T’s for about 10,000 students. The forms will be disseminated to families in the coming days by our Form 1098-T partner, and will enable certain taxpayers who remitted payment for qualified tuition and educationally-related fees during 2023 to claim an educational credit against their tax return.
