In the news!
- Welcome to the end of week one of the spring 2025 semester! Commencement is a mere 15 weeks away!
- This is Laura’s first Divisional newsletter as a member of the A&C team. It was nice to welcome her earlier this week and I hope all of you have had an opportunity to meet with her.
- G and John F. joined Cabinet on Wednesday to talk about the April 2026 deadline around Web Accessibility. This will be a massive undertaking for the University and an ad hoc committee is being formed. On a very complicated project, thanks to G for his great work in preparing campus for what we anticipate is coming our way.
- We have had several Cabinet sessions over the last couple of weeks, including two of our traditional weekly meetings, as well as an all-day Budget Retreat, a half-day leadership training session (to close our nine months of work with David Vedro), and Safe Zone Training earlier today. Some follow-ups I’d like to share:
- We will be adding two new positions to the Division: An Office Assistant 1 and a Major Gift Officer. The searches for these positions – as well as the search to replace the retiring Joanne Kershner – will begin soon.
- Charlotte Wade (OEDI) did the Safe Zone Training, and I am going to ask her to do one that will be open to A&C staff. I would encourage you to attend.
- I’m going to continue to incorporate some of the great lessons learned from our leadership training in upcoming Divisional, staff, and “pop-in” meetings, so be on the lookout for questions from me such as: “How did you add Excellence to Brockport today?”
- If you received an email this morning from CampusGuard (and then soon after from James Onley from BITS), be sure to complete the on-line GLBA Training. It does take about 45 minutes and is due before the end of February.
- Darcy, Chris, John F., and I met yesterday to begin conversations around messaging and theme about the public phase of the Comprehensive Campaign. More to come during the spring and summer.
- The President’s Donor Recognition Dinner will be held after the Honors & Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 25. Both events will be in the Seymour Union Ballroom.
