Psychology Major Online Degree Completion Program (BA, BS)

Description

The Psychology online degree completion program offers flexibility and accessibility for students who want a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology without having to relocate. Courses are offered in an asynchronous online format. The program is for students who are transferring to SUNY Brockport with an associate’s degree.

Admission to the Program

To be considered for Admission, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Have an associate’s degree
  2. Have completed an Introductory Psychology course or the equivalent with a C or higher
  3. Have a 2.5 GPA or higher across all previous college coursework

Students accepted to the University and program will need to complete 56 credits at a four-year college, which may include credits that they transfer. Students need a total of 120 credits to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport. Please note this program is not open to current SUNY Brockport Students.

Program Requirements

Students considering the Online Degree Completion Program must be self-directed and able to balance coursework with other responsibilities. Reliable computer and internet access, along with daily checking of your Brockport email, are essential. Please be aware that compared to in-person study, online degree completion at the undergraduate level does not provide the same learning opportunities outside of the classroom, and this can leave students at a disadvantage when applying to master’s or doctoral programs in Psychology.

All majors are required to complete a minimum of 40 credits of psychology (39 credits if transferring in a 3-credit Research Methods course), 18 credits of which must be taken at Brockport. Students may elect to take more than the minimum, but not more than 54 credits in psychology will count toward the degree. A Brockport psychology GPA of 2.00 is required in order to graduate with a major in psychology.
