Theatre Major

Description

SUNY Brockport’s Theatre program is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).

Brockport is fortunate to have a longstanding educational alliance with Geva Theatre, Rochester’s leading professional theatre. Geva guest artists teach at the University, annually direct a Mainstage production, and teach workshops and masterclasses. Theatre students have the opportunity to participate in internships, and attend Geva productions.

The Department of Theatre and Music Studies is committed to providing students theatre training within a liberal arts environment. We are focused on student learning acquired through classes, performance and production. We uphold the integrity of theatre fostering an artistic environment that nurtures developing artists, scholars and technicians.

The department is committed to sustaining a vital artistic synergy with the surrounding community and the greater society through productions and other theatrical and musical presentations by its students, faculty and guest artists.

Admission to the Program

Any undergraduate student can declare this major.

Program Requirements

Students in the theatre major pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, and must complete its requirements.

• All theatre majors, minors, and students must participate in the production program of the department.
