Theatre Minor

Description

SUNY Brockport’s Theatre program is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).

Brockport is fortunate to have a longstanding educational alliance with Geva Theatre, Rochester’s leading professional theatre. Geva guest artists teach at the University, annually directs a Mainstage production, and teach workshops and masterclasses. Theatre students have the opportunity to participate in internships, and to attend Geva productions.

The Department of Theatre and Music Studies is committed to providing theatre training within a liberal arts environment. We are focused on student learning acquired through classes, performance and production. We uphold the integrity of theatre fostering an artistic environment that nurtures developing artists, scholars and technicians.

The department is committed to sustaining a vital artistic synergy with the surrounding community and the greater society through productions and other theatrical and musical presentations by its students, faculty and guest artists.

The theatre minor is open to all Brockport students who wish to enhance their theatre knowledge, experience and participation.

Admission to the Program

 Any undergraduate student can declare this minor.

Program Requirements

A minimum of 18 credits is required; at least 9 of those credits must be taken at Brockport.

All theatre minors must participate in the production program of the department.
