Meet in the Wegmans Ice Arena.

Graduate Students

Meet in the Tuttle North back gyms (C-205 and C-206). Head to the Wegmans Ice Arena first, and you will be directed to the back gyms.

Arrival Time

Morning Ceremony — School of Education, Health & Human Services

Arrive by 8:30 am.
- Doors to the SERC will open at 8 am. No graduates or guests will be permitted to enter the facility prior to 8 am.
The student processional begins promptly at 9:15 am

Afternoon Ceremony — Schools of Arts and Sciences & Business and Management

Arrive by 1 pm
The student processional begins promptly at 1:45 pm.

Academic Regalia

Bring your cap and gown. All students who intend to process must wear Academic Regalia.

What to expect

We request that all attendees remain seated for the entire ceremony. We very much appreciate your desire to share this moment, but we do not encourage family members to join our graduates during the ceremony.

You will be given a name card to complete when you arrive at your lineup location, which you will carry to the ceremony. If your name is difficult to pronounce, help the reader by writing your name on the card phonetically.

On the back of the card is a QR code that goes to the site where you enter your contact information to receive your photo with President Macpherson. Please fill it out while you wait to be assembled for the procession into Commencement.

When you are instructed to come to the platform, move out of your row, proceed to the ramp beside the platform, and give your name card to the reader.

Proceed across the platform to receive your diploma cover and congratulations from your Dean and President Macpherson.

Doctoral and Master’s Degree Candidates will have their hood bestowed upon them before crossing the platform.
Certificate of Advanced Study graduates should already be wearing their hoods as they walk across the stage.
Then, wait with the President, shake hands, and stop to take your photo.
Upon leaving the platform, re-enter the row that you vacated.

Celebrating our new alums

We welcome you, your guests, faculty, and staff to our campus celebration after the ceremony. The reception will be outside the SERC on the lawn across the street. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
