Welcome Guests

We look forward to welcoming the guests of graduates to join us as we celebrate this milestone event. Below is important information for Commencement Day.

Arrival to Campus

Guests should plan to arrive early and allow extra time to get seated. We ask all guests of the graduates to be in the SERC Field House and seated 15 minutes before the ceremony start time.

Morning ceremony: 9:30 am

  • The SERC will open at 8 am. No graduates or guests will be permitted entry to the facility prior to 8 am. 
  • Entry into the Field House is not permitted after 9:15 am.
  • The student processional begins promptly at 9:30 am.

Afternoon ceremony: 2 pm

  • Entry into the Field House is not permitted after 1:45 pm.
  • The student processional begins promptly at 2 pm.

Guests who arrive at the Field House late will be asked to wait until the procession is finished to enter the ceremony.

Photographs

Island Photography will photograph your student as they walk across the stage during the ceremony. Proofs and purchase information will be mailed to your home address in the summer.

Guest Tickets

Ceremony guests must present a ticket for admittance. We will not print tickets at the door. You must print your tickets in advance or have an electronic ticket on your cell phone. Children (2 years and under) do not need a ticket.

No ticket?

Guests without tickets can watch the ceremony live on a large screen in the Vlogianitis Gym in Tuttle North.

Additional Ceremony Information

  • Bleacher and floor seating is available in the Field House. 
  • Each graduate’s name will be read as they cross the stage and receive a diploma cover, compliments of the Brockport Alumni Association, Brockport Student Government, and the University.
  • We request that all graduates, guests, and family members remain seated for the entire ceremony.

  • Graduates and guests will remain seated while the platform party and faculty leave the SERC. Graduates will then rise and follow the faculty. Guests will leave the ceremony after the graduates have recessed.

 

New Alumni Reception

All graduating students, parents, guests, faculty, and staff are invited and encouraged to attend our new alumni reception, held in the tent across the street from the  ceremony.
