Candidates must meet specific requirements and be accepted into the program to participate. Program benefits include substitute teaching, participating in staff development, and receiving a consistent work schedule with compensation. Districts benefit by having ready substitute teachers who are well versed with the district and have relationships with district personnel and students.

How do we collaborate?
District administrators from Hilton CSD and Field Experience Office staff began the partnership in the 2015-2016 academic year, when the district reached out to try to address their substitute teaching shortage. The program was advertised through the University, and the online application process developed. After a successful fall and spring semester, Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES and the Brockport Central School District joined in the collaboration and expanded the program to all three districts in fall 2016. During the 2018-2019 academic year, the program expanded to include six colleges and 19 school districts.
New Developments
In 2017, the program was re-named the Teacher Immersion Fellows Program (TIFP). This program provides the opportunity to substitute teach in a local school district a guaranteed one to five days per week for $100/day. View more information.
