Alpha Chi National Honor Society

SUNY Brockport’s New York Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society

The SUNY Brockport New York Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Chi (AX) National Honor Society was established in 1986. Since its establishment, SUNY Brockport’s New York Omicron Chapter has inducted over 3,300 undergraduate students into this prestigious honor society. With over 300 chapters at colleges and universities across the United States, AX is one of the largest recognized honor societies in the world.

Each academic year, the top 10-percent of the junior and senior classes at SUNY Brockport are invited to become the newest members of the chapter. In order to be eligible, students must also have completed a minimum of 30 credits at Brockport.

In addition to a membership certificate that is suitable for framing, the AX key (a recognition lapel pin), and a set of emerald green and sapphire blue honor cords (which should be worn proudly at Commencement!), benefits of the one-time lifetime AX membership fee include:

  • Annual scholarship opportunities,
  • Publication of scholarly works in Aletheia, the online, peer-reviewed undergraduate research journal, and in Kalo, AX’s annual member community magazine,
  • Academic, social and career networking opportunities, including several held each year on campus,
  • Member and alumni mentoring, and
  • An invitation to attend annual national conventions, where scholarly or creative work can be presented.
