Accelerated BS to BSN Program FAQs

A Bachelor of Science (preferred) or Bachelor of Arts degree is required to attend the program. This needs to be conferred to start the program, but not to apply. The same is true for the prerequisites, although the more prerequisites you have successfully completed at the time of application, the more competitive your application will be.

Sometimes students will not have their degree conferred by the start date of our program due to semester overlaps or the time it takes for a university to confer it, but if it is conferred for that Spring semester, you may be eligible for the program.

We perform a holistic review of all students, including reviewing their transcripts. We take note of how many times a student has taken a course to be successful. We weigh classes taken at rigorous institutions and in in-person formats more highly, as they tend to better prepare students for the program. 

We accept non-science courses (Psychology, Sociology, Developmental Psychology, and Nutrition) from Portage Learning, as it is Middle States-accredited through Geneva College. We accept the CLEP exam for Sociology only. We do not accept prerequisites from the other institutions mentioned above. 

We start once per year in the middle of May, the Monday following graduation. 

Our application opens August 1st for the following May’s start. We have rolling admissions, which means we close the application when the cohort and waitlist are full. Once you have applied with the SUNY or the Common App for “Nursing Summer 20xx (whichever year you are applying for, and not the one that says “RN Required”), you will receive a message in your application portal that you have new materials to complete- those will be the Secondary Nursing application, and the link to attach your professional statement. 

We need official transcripts sent to Undergraduate Admissions for every educational facility you have attended. This includes courses you may have taken in high school as dual credit, and schools you attended, even if you did not complete your degree or take the prerequisites there.

You do not need to send Brockport University transcripts to us, as we have access to those. However, we do not have access to other colleges, including SUNY institutions, unless you send them to us.

We do not accept letters of recommendation.  Please do not send them, as they will not be read as they are not considered in our admission process.
