Public Health Major (BS)

Protect the health of all people.

Public Health students participate in an annual Poverty Simulation, designed to give them a deeper understanding of how to address the health needs of low-income groups.

Why Public Health?

Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. In this field, we strive to promote healthy lifestyles, research disease and injury prevention, and detect, prevent and respond to infectious diseases.

Public health professionals work to protect the health of entire populations. These populations can be as small as a local neighborhood, or as big as an entire country or region of the world.

“When I first came to Brockport, I only wanted to get my degree and become a nurse. But since I switched my major to Public Health, I plan to do so much more. I want to work as a health educator along with a health care provider, something I never thought about before coming to Brockport.”
