In order for transfer credit to be applied toward Brockport degree requirements official transcripts from all original sources must be sent to Undergraduate Admissions. A final official transcript shows all college courses completed at previous institutions and includes the listing of any degrees earned. It is the student’s responsibility to request final official transcripts from each college attended.

While transfer grade point average (GPA) is used as part of the application review process for admission to the College (and specific programs that require a secondary application) your GPA will not transfer. Only earned grades completed at Brockport will affect your overall GPA. 

Either Undergraduate Admissions has not received some, or all, of your transcripts or Transfer Credit Services has not yet evaluated your transcripts. If we have all, or some of your transcripts, and you would like a degree audit generated, please contact Transfer Credit Services so we can prioritize and provide this important information. This applies to both accepted and deposited students. 

Your degree audit will show how your transfer courses will be accepted and apply toward your degree requirements. If you feel that there is a transfer course(s) that should satisfy a major, minor, and/or general education requirement that is not currently satisfying one of these requirements, please submit a Notice of Award of Transfer Credit along with the course description and/or syllabus to the appropriate department. If your Notice of Award of Transfer Credit is denied and/or you do not agree with the department’s decision on the granting or placement of credit that you earned at a prior SUNY institution, you have the right to submit an appeal via the Transfer Credit Appeal Form.

You can transfer a maximum of 75 credits from any accredited two-year college. Therefore, although you may have completed more than 75 credits at your community college, as perhaps listed on your degree audit report, don’t forget that the degree audit will only apply 75 of your credits (those most useful) toward your Brockport degree. The maximum number of transfer credits that can be applied to your Brockport degree (a combination of two-year colleges and four-year colleges/non-college sources such as AP, IB, CLEP, etc) is 90 credits.

After you’ve been accepted to SUNY Brockport, the Transfer Credit Services team will evaluate your transcripts and provide a degree audit within 2 weeks. Once have completed your transcript evaluation and your degree audit is available, you’ll receive an email notifying you that your audit is ready for you to view and how to access it. 

Transfer EOP students must have been EOP/HEOP, SEEK, or College Discovery Program at their previous or current college. If you are an applicant who was previously in one of these programs and looking to be considered EOP at Brockport, you must check the EOP question on the SUNY or Common Application and submit the EOP Certificate of Eligibility Form.

First-semester transfer students do not register themselves for classes. Instead, you will be registered by your academic advisor after you pay your tuition deposit and complete the class registration form. Your advisor uses this form to select and enroll you in your courses.

Fall registration typically begins in April, and spring registration begins in November. So, if you pay your deposit and are eager to register right away, you still have plenty of time.

Many students take college-level courses in high school, including Advanced Placement (AP), CLEP, International Baccalaureate (IB), or courses through community colleges. You’ll also find information there about AP, CLEP, and IB credit. If you have additional questions, you can contact Transfer Credit Services, and they will be happy to review your credits and provide more information.

Brockport is a very transfer-friendly institution when it comes to accepting credits. As long as your coursework is from an accredited institution, your credits will be accepted in some way.
To ensure your credits are evaluated and appear on your degree audit, you should send an official college transcript. Once it’s received, the courses will be reviewed and posted to your record.
