What Materials Can I Upload From this Page?
Masters theses, Capstone projects, Honors papers, Dissertations and similar works can be submitted from this page.
Check to see that you have all the information required to upload your material. This includes any permissions you need, approvals of theses, as well as copy editing. Once the item appears in the repository, you will be unable to edit it.
If you are using images, charts or other items that were published in a book or journal article, or taken from a database, you must have copyright permission to publish those items in our open-access repository.
If you have any questions or concerns, please submit your question through Drake Library’s Ask a Librarian Page.
Theses & Capstone Projects
To upload your thesis, capstone project, honors paper, dissertation or other final project:
- Please make sure you have the entire paper, including notes and bibliographies, in the proper format for your discipline. The paper must be fully proofread and edited.
- Make sure your paper is accessible: see Student Resources for instructions.
- Send your work as a PDF.
- Please add a non-Brockport email address where you can be reached after graduation.
- To submit your paper use the SOAR Submission Form.
- Author: your full legal name.
- Title: Type in title, using normal title format.
- Abstract: copy and paste or type in your abstract as it appears at the beginning of your paper.
- Subject keywords; Enter the broad subject of your project (biology, history, etc.), then one or two more specific keywords (early childhood education, water studies of the great lakes, Canadian public policy). Capitalize the first letter of each word. Please add no more than 3 - 5 terms.
- Advisor: your principal advisor. This is the name that will be added to the metadata for your paper.
- Click “Select files” to up load your paper; do not upload it as a linked file. Click “Submit.” If you have additional files, you may upload up to five supporting documents. Videos must be saved to YouTube in order to be uploaded. PowerPoint Presentations can be uploaded either as a YouTube or as a PDF file.
- If you wish to control use of your paper, you can assign a Creative Commons license.
- Your paper will not appear in the repository immediately; the time lag will depend on the amount of material that is waiting to be uploaded. Check after three weeks; it takes some time to make the paper accessible and do the final processing.
How long does it take for my paper to appear in the respository?
The time to publication is generally two - three weeks. If you submitted an item and cannot find it in the SOAR repository after three - four weeks, please contact Ask a Librarian and you will be directed to the librarian currently in charge of the repository,
