Downtown Campus Testing Request Process & Guidelines

Please login to Accommodate to fill out Exam Form (professor) or schedule a Downtown Exam (student). See additional details below. Requests for a proctor for accommodated tests at the Downtown Campus are not guaranteed. If no proctor is found for the Accommodated Exam, the student will have to make alternate arrangements with the professor to receive their accommodations. All the Testing Center Procedures and Guidelines apply to the Downtown Campus Testing Room.

Student

Once Professor Fills out “Exam Form” (no attachment needed), Student Accessibility Services (SAS) will open availability for Students to sign – up for Exam on those dates within 24-48 hours of submission. Students will be notified by their professor that the form has been submitted, and they need to log into Accommodate to sign -up for that Accommodated Exam.

  1. Students will need to schedule the exam on Accommodate (following the 72-hour rule) – But are encouraged to schedule everything at the beginning of the semester
  2. Student can email sastest@brockport.edu if they do not see the time slot open.
    • Note: If students do not sign up, no proctor will be assigned to arrive at the Downtown campus
  3. Note: If a graduate proctor is not found for a specific date requested, the professor and student will be notified via email the business day before to make alternate arrangements for that accommodated exam

Professor

Professors may decide to offer testing accommodations utilizing their own resources, however if they decide to utilize the Downtown Testing Room:

  1. Professor must fill out the Exam Form as early as possible so that Student Accessibility Services (SAS) knows a proctor at the downtown campus is needed and for what time
  2. Professor then must email sastest@brockport.edu so that we can start the process of setting up a proctor for that timeslot for the Downtown campus
  3. Professor must let students know (during class or in an email) that the Exam Form was filled out and they can sign up on Accommodate for Accommodated Exam requests
  4. Professors will drop off the Tests to the Downtown Testing Room 15 minutes before the test start time

Communication

  • Professor/Student must communicate with sastest@brockport.edu
  • If an email from Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is sent to a professor/student about a specific test, reply must be received in a timely manner
  • Professor needs to be available during accommodated exam (via Microsoft Teams) to answer any exam questions that the Graduate Proctor may send
  • SAS will work with the Manager of Operations at the Downtown campus to coordinate a designated testing room and provide parking for the Graduate Proctor
  • If no Graduate Proctor is found/hired, professors may need to use department resources to provide the accommodated exam

Exam Forms

  • All Exam Forms (without attachments) must be submitted at the beginning of the semester, within or before the first 2 weeks of classes.
  • Student Accessibility Services (SAS) will then start looking for a Downtown Graduate Proctor (this could take up to 8 weeks if graduate students apply)
  • If a student has Screen-Reading Software as an accommodation, professors will need to send the Exam to sastest@brockport.edu by 10am the business day before for it to be uploaded to TextAid (This would be Friday for a Monday Test)
  • After Exam Forms are submitted, SAS will create Time Slots on Accommodate for students to select from, students are encouraged to schedule at the beginning of the semester but will be able to schedule up until 72-hours ahead of the test start time. It is recommended for students to schedule their exams as soon as they receive their syllabi
  • If a professor changes the date of the Exam, communication will need to be provided to sastest@brockport.edu and the student about the change.
    • There is no guarantee that a proctor will be available for the new date and the professor may need to utilize their department resources to provide the accommodated test
    • Students will need to re-schedule the exam themselves (following the 72-hour rule) once sastest@brockport.edu has updated the new timeslot in Accommodate
