Announcements
- Ms. Murty and Dr. Lowey were introduced as new members of the committee. Dr. Lowey is the new Director of Special Sessions and Ms. Murty is a graduate student in Public Health and Health Education.
- Ms. Riotto stated that there would be a schedule modification. With the Fee Based Budget Presentations being on March 4, 2021 and the JPBC meeting on March 11, 2021 set to discuss the budgets, this committee will need to meet on March 5, 2021 to review and discuss the presentations. This will allow JPBC to review this committee’s votes on the budgets. The March 12, 2021 meeting will be cancelled as the March 5, 2021 meeting will replace it.
Course Related Fees
Overall Fee Review Project Update & Status
- Members reviewed the responses and balance information received from the course fee usage form. Members determined that the following fees would need a greater level of review due to high balances:
- PEP 441 - The next stage of review for this fee will consist of a meeting with Provost Heyning, Dean Hernandez, Dr. James, Dr. Ross, Ms. Riotto and Dr. Spiller.
- PES 900080-01 - The next stage of review for this fee will consist of a meeting with Provost Heyning, Dean Hernandez, Dr. James, Dr. Ross, Ms. Riotto and Dr. Spiller.
- CHM 900015-02 – The next stage of review for this fee will consist with a conversation with Dean Maliekal and Provost Heyning.
- Ms. Killion will be working with the departments on the courses that they indicated are no longer offered. This needs to be clarified if this is temporary or permanent because once we submit to SUNY that a fee should be discontinued because it is no longer offered then the fee is permanently removed and we will need to reapply for the fee if a department ever wishes to begin charging a specific course fee again.
- The course fees review will be put on next meeting’s agenda as well. This will provide members more time to review the information.
2021-22 Course Related Fee Call Letter
The Call Letter will be going out soon in order to meet the May 1, 2021 SUNY deadline. If the committee receives any requests for new fees, the requestor(s) will be asked to come to a committee meeting to answer any questions or provide more information. Any course fee from this request will need endorsement from this committee, JPBC and President’s Cabinet before it is submitted for SUNY approval.
2021 Fee-Based Budget Presentations
We are still awaiting guidance from SUNY on the Fall 2021 Broad-Based Fees, but we are going to continue with our formal process of the fee presentations. The student forum date is still being finalized.
