Fee Assessment and Waiver Criteria

  • Reviewed BSG Fee
    • Conversation related to
      • Graduate Students and BSG allocation
      • Campus based versus MetoCenter based activities
      • Commuter focused activities
  • Invite Jill Wesley (Career Services Fee) and someone from Advancement (A Gift to the Fund for Brockport) to the next meeting
  • Reviewed the Commencement Fee
    • The Fee supports holding the ceremony
    • The Fee supports part of a position in Registration & Records
    • Conversations related to
      • Could the fee include the cost of the cap and gown?
      • Could the fee be a smaller semesterly fee, such as $5?
  • Continued conversations regarding programs delivered via Distance Learning and considerations for assessement/non-assessment criteria.
  • Discuss Athletic and BSG Fee at next meeting
  • Need to also review Alumni, Career Services, and Graduation Fee

Joint Planning & Budget Committee (JPBC) Timeline Items

    • December 14, 2017 - Campus Based Fee Workgroup Report
    • January 25, 2018 - Student Fee Educational Session
    • February 1 & February 15, 2018 - Divisional Plans *Student Fees to be covered*
    • March 1, 2018 - JPBC Student Fee vote/approval - Broad based plus Parking & Career Services
    • Pre-Spring Break - President’s Cabinet approval of proposed Broad-based Fees
    • Mid-March - Campus Formal Request submitted to SUNY
  • Call Letter
    • C. Hallenbeck, S. Haines and E. Hart to draft new call letter
  • HEPI – Higher Education Price Index – the allowable percentage our fees can increase
    • What will be our local process in determining the distribution of the allowable increase across our fees?
  • Presentations
    • Concerns that the process may be less transparent if presentations are not given to JPBC
    • Two presentations
      • One for the Fee Subcommittee – JPBC members plus all students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
      • Brockport Student Government Fee Forum - 4-6pm, Friday afternoon
    • JPBC will be updated as to the presentations
      • JPBC’s vote/approval for President’s Cabinet

Course Related Fees

  • The request to campus is sent out in January to the Provost & the Deans with and end of February due date to the Budget Office
    • Comment: In the past, it is not certain that Department Chairs received the request
    • E. Daniel requested that she be added to the request distribution
  • Need to determine the Subcommittee’s role in reviewing Course Related Fee Requests
