Car Share Program Comes to Campus

A new partnership with Enterprise Mobility provides an on-demand transportation option for students.

SUNY Brockport has partnered with Enterprise Mobility to offer a new car-sharing program for students beginning February 9, 2026. The goal of the program is to reduce barriers and transportation gaps while offering environmentally sustainable transportation options.

“This program offers an economical solution for students who are unable or do not want to pay for a car, maintenance, or an annual parking pass,” said Johnna Frosini, Director of Parking and Transportation. “In addition to existing transportation options, students now have the ability to reserve personal transportation for exactly when they need it.”

Whether it’s a quick grocery run, a medical appointment, or a multi-day off-campus internship or work commitment, the car-sharing program offers students access to transportation without owning a vehicle.

“We initially offered a similar program, but we lost access to it during the pandemic,” Frosini said. “If the program is successful, Enterprise has offered to add more vehicles in the future.”

Students can rent one of the shared vehicles either by the hour or for an entire day. Rates vary by vehicle and day of the week, with hourly rates starting at $7.50 and day rates starting at $60. Rentals include fuel, physical damage and liability protection, and up to 200 miles per day (additional miles available at $0.35 per mile).

“The program offers two different vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and Camry, with the Camry costing slightly more to rent,” Frosini said. “Unlike other rental agencies, any student 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license, including international students with a valid international driver’s license, can take part in the program.”

As there are only two cars available, reservations are required and availability varies. Students can reserve a car by visiting the Enterprise webpage. A one-time $25 application fee is required. An annual $25 membership fee is required to enroll in the program. To offset the fee, students are granted $25 in driving credits when they sign up. Reservations may be made up to 90 days in advance, with a maximum rental period of one week.

“Both cars will be parked in Lot P and are available to rent 24/7,” Frosini said. “This is another way to support the University’s goal of being a sustainable institution. Car sharing reduces the need for students to bring their own cars to campus which leads to less traffic, improved safety on campus, and an impact of reducing our transportation – related carbon emissions.

After reserving a car, students will “unlock” the car using the mobile app, remove the key from the glove box, and return the car to Lot P once their reservation is complete. If there are any issues or questions, students can contact 1-877-599-3227 for assistance anytime, 24 hours/7 days per week.

“We know scheduling transportation is not always easy,” Frosini said. “So, we wanted to make the program as accessible and as simple as possible for our students.”

Car Sharing Kickoff Event

At noon on February 9, 2026, both cars will be parked outside the Seymour Union for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony announcing the launch of the car sharing program.
