Chemistry Professional Helps Shape National ACS Committee Priorities

Daniel Jacques, an Instructional Support Specialist in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, participated in a national strategic planning session for the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Committee on the Advancement of LGBTQ+ Chemists.

Jacques was one of four members selected for a three-year appointment to help guide the committee’s development and future priorities.

The committee brings together chemists from academia, industry, and government to strengthen professional support, leadership development, and community for LGBTQ+ individuals across the chemical sciences.

During the planning session, committee members worked to identify priorities and opportunities that will guide future programs, resources, and initiatives.

Jacques transitions to this new role in the ACS as he completed his term as the Executive Secretary of the American Chemical Society Committee on Chemical Safety, and continues to contribute to national efforts focused on laboratory safety, psychological safety, and science education.
