Women & Gender Studies/English Professor Delivers Talks at Modern Language Association International Convention

Dr. Milo Obourn, Chair of Women & Gender Studies and Professor of English, presented talks on Queer and Trans Multispecies Justice and Trans Joy! at the Modern Language Association Annual Convention January 4 - 7, 2024.

Dr. Obourn gave two papers entitled “‘Are you now so deluded you think you exist outside the category of everything?’: A Posthumanist Disability Critique of Cisgenderism in Rivers Solomon’s An Unkindness of Ghosts” and “More Humor, Less Shame: Trans and Disabled and Reproductive Justice beyond Narratives of Suffering” at the MLA convention in Chicago.

Dr. Obourn also serves on the MLA’s Committee on Women, Gender, and Sexuality in the Profession, which organized two sessions on “Strategies in Times of Attack” one on “Critical Solidarities” and one on “Approaches to Resistance.”
