Evaluation and Management of Epistaxis (Nose bleeds) is within the scope of practice of Family Nurse Practitioners. Managing acute bleeding, however, can be daunting for the FNP and scary for the patient. Knowing the treatment options to swiftly terminate bleeding, the potential complications of each option, and when to refer a patient to the emergency department and/or to Otolaryngology is paramount to patient safety.
