About the Committee

The Experiential Learning Committee is dedicated to integrating practical, real-world experiences into academic learning at Brockport. We seek to ensure that experiential learning is accessible, equitable, and impactful for all students. The committee welcomes input and collaboration from the campus community as we work together to create meaningful hands-on experiences.

Mission & Goals

Every student will graduate with meaningful experiential learning (EL) that enhances career readiness, personal growth, and community engagement. Experiential learning becomes a defining feature of the universitys identity—known across SUNY and beyond.

Strategic Priority 1: Create a Campus-Wide Expectation of Experiential Learning

Goal: Foster a shared belief that experiential learning is central to student experience, career readiness, and professional preparations which is supported by strong internal collaboration and external partnerships that sustain, expand, and promote EL across all four-year plans.

Strategic Priority 2: Build a Sustainable Infrastructure and Funding for EL

Goal: Establish consistent and sufficient funding, resources, and administrative leadership to support long-term growth and success of experiential learning.

Strategic Priority 3: Establish Metrics and Continuous Improvement Processes

Goal: Use data-driven assessment to measure EL impact, inform improvements, and demonstrate outcomes to stakeholders.

Strategic Priority 4: Elevate Institutional Culture and Reputation

Goal: Be recognized within SUNY Brockport and throughout the broader academic and professional communities through publications, presentations, social media, and other public scholarship for producing graduates with meaningful, high-quality experiential learning experiences.
