Grants

Grants are funds that do not need to be repaid and are awarded based on financial standing.

Like federal loans, federal grants are awarded based on your FAFSA. The most common federal grant is the Pell Grant. You may qualify for additional federal grants based on your FAFSA, which will all be indicated in your financial aid package.

Loans

Loans are funds that are borrowed and repaid.

All students should file the FAFSA — the form through which you are considered for federal loans. Federal loans are the most common type of funding used to pay for college. Your federal loans will be automatically included in your financial aid package.
