The Department of Earth Science’s annual international trip to Puerto Rico near the El Yunque National Forest provides students with the opportunity to study a unique climate, having one of the fastest weathering rates in the world.

A Solid Foundation

By learning to decipher the ways rocks form and move over time, you can read our planet’s story dating back over four billion years. Learn to plan and conduct geological surveys, analyze data, study natural resources, and assess environmental impacts.

A Career in Geology

Our geology program is specifically designed to prepare students for the ASBOG exam to become licensed geologists.

Graduates can work in a range of fields within geology such as hydrology, engineering geology, paleontology, geophysics, and more. Or specialize further by earning a graduate degree in related fields like chemistry, biology, mathematics, or physics!

What makes Brockport’s geology program interesting is that it’s undergrad focused. That means undergrads get to do research – I mean actual research.
