The Student Health Center offers same-day appointments with a provider or a Triage nurse. Call us at 585-395-2414 to schedule.
When appointments are booked for the day, in addition to *self-care, students will find additional, local off- campus services to meet their needs on our Emergency Care Options page.
Appointments with Monroe County Health Department may be booked by calling the SHC at 585-395-2414.
Reminder: the SHC does not provide notes for missed classes.
* Self-care: In addition to rest and staying well-hydrated, over-the-counter remedies are available without waiting or charge for minor problems with colds, pain, and wounds. Just stop by the lobby anytime 8 am – 4:45 pm and see what’s available:
- Cold Care Pack: Choose between regular and alternative health packs.
- Pain Relief Care Pack: Try either ibuprofen or acetaminophen to relieve those typical discomforts like minor headaches, sprains and strains, and menstrual cramps.
- Wound Care Kits: Self-treatment for minor injuries like blisters, small cuts, scrapes, and burns.
- Free Condoms Internal and External, free delivery program available.
If you use the self-care packs as directed and you do not feel better in 2-3 days, or if your condition worsens, please make an appointment with the Health Center.

Many conditions and illnesses do not require that you miss class and can be self-managed using rest, hydration and non-prescription, over the counter medication.
If your symptoms are severe, such as: fever >102°F, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe headache, severe sore throat, uncontrolled vomiting, excessive diarrhea, difficulty maintaining wakefulness you should not attend class and call the Hazen Student Health Center for consultation: 585-395-2414.
