
As part of Welcome Week, all incoming students will take part in one of a variety of service projects in the early afternoon (about three hours) of the Saturday before classes (August 29). While this event is geared towards first-year students, we are calling on the help of returning students, faculty, and staff as well as community partners to help make this event a success!
First-year students
One of the best parts of Saturday of Service is that volunteers get to choose where they do their service. Whether it be a park, church, rec center, school, etc., first-year student participants can start signing up for their service during their summer orientation in July. More information forthcoming.
Team Leaders
Current students, faculty, and staff are invited to become Team Leaders for our Saturday of Service event. Team Leaders support new students by joining them at their sites to help lead the experience, connecting with the site supervisor, and ensuring students are performing the activity safely. It is a fulfilling experience that builds community and connects students with the local community, before they even begin classes!

All who sign up are encouraged to join us for a training/information session on one of the following dates:
- Wednesday, April 15th at 10:10am-11:00am in Union B116
- Friday, April 17th at 1:25pm-2:15pm in Union 220
- Monday, April 20th at 2:30pm-3:20pm in Union 220
Community partners
To make this event a success, we are calling on local groups to bring in a group of student volunteers for the afternoon. Transportation will be provided; all you need to do is devise the service project and provide any necessary materials. If you are part of a non-profit or government agency, or you know someone who is & would be interested, please email serve@brockport.edu to get signed up! Please reach out by May 1.
