Computing Sciences Celebrates “International Girls in ICT Day”

Each year, on the fourth Thursday of April, the Department of Computing Sciences joins the global initiative to raise awareness about the need for more girls and women to study and work in technology disciplines.

On April 24, the Department of Computing Sciences once again joined the global celebration of “Girls in ICT Day,” an initiative of the International Telecommunication Union to raise awareness & re-commit ourselves to continuing to work towards greater inclusivity in technology. very special shoutout to Dr.

This year, the following alums joined in-person and online for a panel discussion to share their experiences on being a woman in IT and give advice to current students:

  • Adrianna Marino (CIS)
  • Kat Terranova (CSC)
  • Micky Akers-Coville (CSC)
  • Mary Klee (CSC) 

In addition, social media posts were made throughout the day to raise awareness.

This year’s efforts were lead by Dr. Ipek Eroglu and students, Trinity Thiele and Naya Brown (President and Vice President respectively of the Brockport Women in Technology club), on behalf of Computing Sciences.
