Her project proposal focuses on the elderly population, with an emphasis on the importance of socialization in home and institutionalized settings. It includes partnering with epidemiological research scientists at Amsterdam UMC, in conjunction with site visits to elder care institutions around Amsterdam. Before applying for the Fulbright, Katie held a variety of jobs in caretaking fields, and recently an internship at URMC Memory Care Clinic. Her extensive human services background, as well as her love for working with elderly people, helped inspire her project idea.
