The Learning Assistance Center Writing Tutor Graduate Assistant supports
student writers from all disciplines and levels through one-on-one tutoring
sessions grounded in writing center theory and best practices. The GA helps
students grow as writers by emphasizing writing as a process, understanding
disciplinary conventions, developing reading and writing strategies,
encouraging critical thinking, and building confidence and independence in
academic and professional communication.
The GA participates in on-the-job writing tutor training and conducts tutoring
sessions in person, synchronously online, or asynchronously. The GA fosters
an inclusive and welcoming learning environment, maintains accurate tutoring
records, and may assist with university recruitment activities as needed. Work
takes place at the LAC for 20 hours per week.
