SUNY Brockport will host a performance by the nationally recognized a cappella group Ball in the House on Thursday, February 12, at 7:30 pm at the Tower Fine Arts Center. The concert, And Now I See: Race, Racism, and American Music, is presented in partnership with the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
And Now I See examines the roots, influence, and legacy of Black artists in American music. Through original vocal arrangements and narrated context, the program highlights how musical genres such as soul, R&B, pop, and hip-hop have been shaped by cultural experience and artistic innovation. The performance is designed to be both educational and reflective, connecting historical perspectives with contemporary expression.
Based in Boston, MA, Ball in the House performs nearly 200 shows annually and has appeared at theaters, festivals, and international venues. The group has been featured on America’s Got Talent, The TODAY Show, and at the China International Chorus Festival, and has previously performed at regional events including the Rochester Fringe Festival.
The event supports SUNY Brockport’s ongoing commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and offers faculty and staff an opportunity to engage with the arts as part of the campus cultural experience.
