What is the one thing you hope students take away from your course(s)?
I hope that students will take away not only foundational concepts that they can utilize as they move through their own research and into careers but also a passion for the process of learning.
What are the real-world applications of the work you do at the University?
Students who complete the graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies are able to enter into their field with a critical eye and an empathetic heart. In addition, students are competent in cross-cultural communication and collaboration and are prepared to work with diverse groups.
What kinds of coursework and capstone projects should students expect?
Students take courses in Feminist Theory and Feminist Research Methods, as well as elective courses of their choosing.
What advice would you give to a student who wants to be successful?
Students who come in with an open mind and a passion for expanding their worldview will be successful.
What is the focus of your scholarly pursuits?
My scholarship demonstrates my longstanding interest in applying critical feminist research methods to queer and feminist communal spaces, and can be further distilled into three general areas of inquiry: queer archives and communities, the transformative potentials of communal digital spaces, and feminist research methods.
