Bio

Dr. Jennifer Wood grew up on Long Island; she received her BA in Psychology from St. Joseph’s College in 2001. After several years in the corporate world, she received her MSW from Stony Brook University in 2009 and her PhD In Social Welfare from Stony Brook University in 2014.

While completing her doctorate, Jennifer was engaged in clinical practice in a community mental health clinic and then in a group private practice. She worked with clients from the LGBTQIA+ community, Latinx immigrants, individuals with HIV/AIDS, and children with emotional disturbances.

Jennifer was on the social work faculty at West Texas A&M University from 2014 to 2018; she served as the MSSW program director from 2016-2018. Her research interests include size inclusivity, social justice, diversity and inclusion, racial and cultural equality, and social work educational standards.

Jennifer lives in Brockport with her husband and a yard full of wildlife, and has a deep love of music, art, and cooking.
