Bio

Shannon Niles is a dedicated mental health counselor with a passion for supporting students experiencing the unique challenges of balancing academics, personal well-being, and life transitions. Shannon has a professional emphasis working with student athletes navigating performance-related stress, identity development, body image concerns, and injury recovery. Shannon brings a compassion and strengths-based approach to counseling that meets students and athletes where they are – mentally, emotionally, and holistically.

Prior to her time at SUNY Brockport, Shannon engaged in playing multiple sports during and after college and brings a relatable and empathetic approach to working with athletes. Understanding the strong link between performance and mental health, Shannon is passionate about helping student athletes in a supportive safe space where they can build confidence, strengthen resilience, and prioritize wellness – both in and beyond sport. Outside of her counseling work, Shannon enjoys strength training, running, video games, and playing the piano and guitar.
