Athletic Administration (MS)

Description

Athletic administration is a professional leadership role that involves overseeing and managing an organization’s athletics. The MS degree in Athletic Administration leads to employment in a variety of fields including but not limited to:

  • Director of Athletics at the Collegiate Level
  • Sports Information Director
  • Event and Facility Management
  • Athletic Compliance and Sport Eligibility
  • Budgeting and Finance in Athletics
  • Marketing and Media Relations

Admission to the Program

This graduate program is available to students who hold relevant undergraduate degrees, other than physical education, and wish to pursue a career in athletic administration. Such careers include but are not limited to:

  • College athletics
  • Semi-pro and professional sport
  • Youth sport

Research

Core Coursework

* For students doing a synthesis project, and with consultation with their advisor, have the option of taking one course either in the department or outside the department to satisfy this requirement and complete 30 hours.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  6. Employ learned skills in a semester long practicum in an athletic setting.
