What is the process for selecting a new President?
The Presidential Search process is conducted in accordance with SUNY guidelines. The legal authority to appoint the President or Chief Administrative Officer of a State-operated institution of the State University of New York is vested in the Board of Trustees by Section 355(2)(g) of the Education Law. The College Council of each such institution is given responsibility for recommending a candidate or candidates to the SUNY Chancellor and Board of Trustees.
How is the search conducted?
WittKieffer, a national executive search firm, has been retained to guide the search from start to finish. They will engage the search committee regularly, conduct listening sessions with the SUNY Brockport community, recruit candidates, seek feedback, and provide counsel throughout the process. A Presidential Search Committee will review candidate materials and conduct first-round and semi-finalist interviews. The search committee will recommend semi-finalists to College Council, who will then recommend finalists to the Chancellor and Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will approve and announce the new President.
