Preparedness Guide

Here are some basic steps we recommend that members of the campus community take to prepare for the possibility of an emergency.

Be Alert

If you notice any suspicious activity on campus, inform University Police immediately at (585) 395-2222 or use any Emergency Blue Light Phone.

Stay Informed

Know what disasters and hazards could affect your area and how to get emergency alerts.

Make a Plan

  1. Put a plan together by answering the questions below to start your emergency plan.
    • How will I receive emergency alerts and warnings?
    • What is my shelter plan?
    • What is my evacuation plan?
    • How will I communicate with family and friends?
    • What do I need for my emergency kit?
  2. Assess Your Needs. As you prepare your plan, customize your plans and supplies to your specific daily living needs and responsibilities. Consider the following:
    • Responsibilities for assisting others
    • Locations visited frequently
    • Dietary needs
    • Medical needs including prescriptions and equipment
    • Disabilities or access and functional needs including devices and equipment
    • Pets or service animals
    • For Access and Functional Needs and Service Animals, are you registered with the Office of Student Accessibility Services?
  3. Document your plan.
