Broad-Based Fees

Broad-Based Fees for institutions within the State University of New York (SUNY) are generally charged to all enrolled students to finance discrete activities that benefit the student body, excluding any and all activities that could be considered to be part of the “Core Operations” mission of the campus that are funded by Direct and Indirect State Tax Support and Tuition dollars.

SUNY’s Policy on Fees, Rentals, and Other Charges allows for the assessment of Broad-Based Fees and provides system-level information regarding the Broad-Based Fee approval process.

SUNY’s expectations for campuses include:

  • Student education and consultation through open forums
  • Annual increases limited to covering mandatory costs, expansion of existing services, and provision of new services or upgrades to equipment
  • A five-year plan for broad-based fees

In accordance with SUNY policy, SUNY Brockport provides for student involvement in the Broad-Based Fee decision-making process, hosting forums for discussion and opportunities for questions and answers. In addition, The Campus Based Fee Review Committee and The Joint Planning and Budget Committee are intimately involved in vetting Broad-Based Fee budgets and increase proposals.

SUNY Brockport’s Broad-Based fees include:

  • Athletic Fee
  • Campus Health Center Fee
  • Career Services Fee
  • College Fee
  • Student Recreation Fee

The Office of Student Accounts and Accounting manages the collection of tuition and fees for the campus. More information regarding The University’s current Broad-Based Fees and other student fees can be found on their website, Fee Information.
