Elections are held in the spring semester. Terms of office begin and end with the last meeting in May.
Senate Nomination Petition Instructions
- Start by copying the form available at Brockport University Senate Nomination Petition.
- Load this page and click the Duplicate it button at the top of the form.
- Edit the form as follows:
- Change the title of the form to include your name in this format:
- Dr. Ellsworth Eagle Senate Nomination Petition for Senator at Large
- Change the question to include your name and the position you for which you are running.
- I support the candidacy of Dr. Ellsworth Eagle from the Department of Mascot Studies for the position of Senator at Large.
- Change the title of the form to include your name in this format:
- Under the Settings cog, ensure the following settings are accurate:
- Only people at SUNY Brockport can respond.
- Record name is checked
- One response per person is checked
- Options for responses
- Accept responses is checked
- Allow respondents to save their responses is checked
- Response receipts
- Check Get email notification of each response if you’d like to be notified. This is optional.
- Only people at SUNY Brockport can respond.
- Under the 3 dots (•••) next to Present, add University senate as a collaborator.
- Click + Share the link to collaborate and view result
- Click the chevron next to “Anyone with an Office 365 work or school account… and change it to “Specific people in SUNY Brockport with the link can edit and view result”
- On the line where it says Enter a name, group, or email address, type senate@brockport.edu.
- Click on University Senate and make sure the US shows up below that field to confirm sharing.
- Get the link to distribute:
- Click Collect responses above the form.
- Click Copy link (shortening is optional).
- Use the feature on that page to send the item or copy the link and draft your own email.
- You can check the responses at Microsoft Office.
- When you have at least 25 signatures send an email to senate@brockport.edu so we are aware of your nomination petition.

Senate Bylaws
Bylaws Revisions occur every three years. A Bylaws ad hoc committee is formed in the spring of the last academic year the Bylaws are in effect. The current Senate Bylaws were ratified by SUNY Brockport voting faculty. The next series of revisions will take place when the Bylaws committee reconvenes in September of 2027. Any questions or concerns regarding the Bylaws should be directed to the Senate President or the parliamentarian.
