Start at GCC

Overview

The SUNY Brockport / Genessee Community College 2+2 program allows students to understand their full academic path before coming to study in the United States. Students selected for this conditional admission program will continue their studies at SUNY Brockport after they have received their Associate’s degree (or completed a minimum of 24 transferrable credit hours at GCC).

This option is ideal for students who would like to:

  • Take advantage of reduced tuition costs
  • Strengthen their English language skills WHILE taking academic coursework
  • Obtain an Associate’s degree before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree

How to Apply

If you would like to be considered for conditional admission, complete the form below. Once you have been conditionally admitted, you will receive an official letter from SUNY Brockport that indicates this. You may use this letter (as a supplement to your acceptance letter from GCC) for your visa appointment.

Conditions of Acceptance

Students who are guaranteed admission into SUNY Brockport:

  • Have completed at least 24 transferrable credit hours of Genesee Community College equivalent courses required in the first year of SUNY Brockport academic program in consultation with SUNY Brockport’s Assistant Director of Transfer Credit Services (transfercredit@brockport.edu)*
  • Have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Are in good academic and disciplinary standing at Genesee Community College

Students who do not meet all the above criteria will be evaluated for acceptance on a case-by-case basis.

*For admission to majors, students will need to meet departmental admissions requirements found in SUNY Brockport’s catalog.

Guarantee of admission to SUNY Brockport will be honored for a two-year period after completing coursework at Genesee Community College, provided the student does not register for courses at a third institution in the interim.
